The essay begins by exploring what exactly Queer Theory is, before elaborating on its contribution to discussions of sexuality and sexual identity. My argument is that Queer Theory, as a set of ideas based on the concept that all identities are unfixed and do not determine who we are, has played a profound and fundamental role in shaping our understanding of sexuality and sexual identity. This lies mainly in the theory's potential to question the very idea of sexual identities.
