George Friederich Handel: Under His Influence. This paper summarizes the life and works of George Friedrich Handel. His influence not only on baroque has continued to resonate throughout the years. This paper attempts to illustrate his contribution and the mark he left on the world. George Friederich Handel is one good example of this. A look at the life of Handel illustrates both the mobility, and the influence of royal patronage on a composer typical of the baroque age. Handel's father intended him for the law, but his own musical inclinations soon prevailed. Following his studies in Germany and Italy, where he studied with Corelli, encountered and exchanged ideas with a number of other Italian composers, and may also have met Vivaldi in Venice on his return, he went to Hanover. There he was appointed Kapellmeister to the Elector of Saxony. The Elector soon became the King of England and Handel became successful in yet another part of Europe, London. Largely because of all his traveling, Handel was recognized in England as the greatest composer of his day.
